Perspecta and its CloudSeed solution
The need for CloudSeed grew in part from Perpecta’s experience managing data center operations, relocations and consolidations.
“We recognized early on that all customers are not equal when it comes to readiness—technically, organizationally or financially—to move to the cloud,” the company said. “We knew that we needed to develop a solution that could support our customers, regardless of where they were in their cloud journey as well as where they want to go. We also wanted to enable customers to leverage their existing substantive investments in computing infrastructure while allowing them to move away from a traditional capital expenses model and towards an operating expense model.”
Perspecta developed CloudSeed as a solution to help agencies deploy to a cloud infrastructure with software-defined storage, network and compute. It is an infrastructure as a service framework the makes management easier, is self-healing and offers automatic configuration.
The solution also offers redundancies of all data store on the system. It also enables burstibility to other clouds as needed.
The company also uses CloudSeed to build appliances that support the delivery of various managed services. Appliances currently support capabilities ranging from certificate authority to load balancer and virtual private network to single file restore.
CloudSeed can be deployed for a private or hybrid on-premise cloud, or a private, hybrid or community off-premise cloud. CloudSeed has also been authorized and operates at Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate and the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (SRG) Impact Level (IL) 4. It has also been successfully deployed at the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of the Navy, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery.
