Brillient tapped for COVID work at IRS

Brillient has been picked by the Internal Revenue Service for $6 million contract that will support the agency’s Office of Research, Applied Analytics and Statistics as it automates applications in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company will automate application forms that are part of the tax collection agency's response to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act. The contract expands on work Brillient has been doing with the IRS on big data since 2011.

Automation work will include digitization of paper records, data extraction algorithms, interfaces with existing databases and graph modeling. That automation intends to accelerate relief to businesses and tax-exempt entities while cross-checking IRS records to identify fraud, the company said.

The contract is the first task order Brillient has won under the IRS Data Analytics and Innovation Support vehicle awarded in 2018 to seven companies.
