Barclays has hired nearly two-decade investment banking veteran Kieran Doran as a managing director for aerospace and defense, the global financial firm said Tuesday.

Doran joins Barclays from Rothschild & Co., where he was a managing director and led coverage of the aerospace and defense sector. Prior to Rothschild, Doran was an executive-in-residence at private equity firm Warburg Pincus and helped source investments in the defense market.

Recent transactions Doran has advised on include Huntington Ingalls Industries’ acquisition earlier this year of underwater vehicle maker Hydroid, plus three follow-on offerings of common stock by Mercury Systems for that firm’s investment strategy including a series of acquisitions.

He also spent a decade in corporate development roles at A&D companies such as BAE Systems Inc. and the former L3 Technologies, where he oversaw the acquisitions of more than 30 businesses.
