Redo in the works for $5.5B IT product buy

The General Services Administration Air Force are amending the solicitation for the $5.5 billion 2GIT hardware and software contract.
To rescue another troubled contract, the General Services Administration apparently has decided to step back and take a second look at the solicitation for the 2nd Generation IT blanket purchase agreement.
Known as 2GIT, this $5.5 billion contract is the replacement for the Air Force NetCents 2 IT Products vehicle. GSA and the Air Force made 75 awards in November that included 56 small business winners.
Almost predictably, those awards were followed by protests and corrective actions by GSA and the Air Force that included an unusual set in late April.
The government took a corrective action on April 30 and GSA said it was amending the solicitation to change its approach to evaluations. But GSA was not accepting new proposals.
On the very next day of May 1, GSA and the Air Force made new awards.
More protests by Red River Technology, Coast to Coast Computer Products and Blue Tech quickly followed. They argued that evaluations were not done properly.
Now those protests have ended with yet another corrective action. Also, GSA says it made errors when it issued the April 30 amendment to the solicitation.
GSA now plans to fix those errors and allow bidders to submit revised quotes, WT has been told. GSA and the Air Force will re-evaluate proposals and then make new awards.
GSA and the Air Force apparently took this corrective action in mid-June. That happened before GSA said it was pulling the plug on the Alliant 2 Small Business contract, which was plagued with its own protest problems.
