Navy researching small biz IT support for medical enterprise

The Navy is looking for enough small businesses that can compete for a five-year contract to support the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery's IT systems.
The Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery is looking for small businesses that can compete for a five-year IT support contract.
Known by the acronym BUMED, this organization runs the Navy’s medical enterprise and is responsible for setting policies, providing care, personnel and resources that support sailors, Marines and their families. This includes on-shore and shipboard medical services.
This contract will support BUMED’s information management and technology sector via technical and consultative services.
The IM&T sector has three directorates -- capabilities and requirements management, resource management and communications and enterprise operations management. The contractor will support the directors with program management, advisory services and IT support.
BUMED’s IT capabilities are critical so it can connect and interact with the Defense Health Agency. Some of the work will include support development of IT policies, standardizing IT processes, rationalizing the IT portfolio and validating IT systems.
The sources sought notice is part of the market research phase as the Navy tries to determine if there are enough small businesses to compete for a set-aside contract. Among the requirements is providing at least two examples of work that is similar in size and scope.
