Army starts bidding for $1B cyber training opportunity

The Army has officially kicked off the bidding for an almost $1 billion cybersecurity training contract intended as a single, consolidated approach for acquiring those services.

In a request for proposals posted June 11, the Army further details its envisioned Cyber Trident training platform the branch wants to develop for the Cyber Mission Force. The Army plans to choose a single company as the partner to help build on investments already made in the Persistent Cyber Training Environment, an online platform for Cyber Command personnel to log into from any location for training and mission practices.

Proposals are due Aug. 6 and questions related to that final solicitation must be submitted by June 26. An award is contemplated to be awarded on June 1, 2021.

Two teams have already made public their intent to pursue Cyber Trident -- short for Cyber Training, Readiness, Integration, Delivery and Enterprise Technology.

Raytheon Technologies has lined up Red Hat and VMware as partners for one team, while ManTech International and General Dynamics have formed a partnership of their own.

Cyber Trident is a brand new requirement and thus there is no incumbent.
