NASA's big governmentwide IT acquisition contract told users and contractors that it was extending its contract's period of performance another five years.
In a note posted May 1 on NASA's Services for Enterprise-Wide Procurement website, the governmentwide acquisition vehicle said ordering periods of performance that had been set to expire on April 30, 2020 had been extended another five years.
The announcement was a formality for the contract. The extension option was part of the SEWP V GWAC awarded six years ago, which included a five-year base period from May 1, to April 30, 2020 and the optional five years that ends on April 30, 2025, when a SEWP VI follow-on contract is anticipated.
NASA awarded SEWP V, its fifth iteration of the popular IT GWAC, initially to 40 vendors back in 2014. It now has about 140 prime vendors. SEWP was established 25 years ago by NASA and administered by Goddard Space Flight Center. It is also one of the General Services Administration's best-in-class contracts under that agency's IT category.
