Firm argues that misunderstanding led to contract elimination

Mission Essential says a misunderstanding led to its elimination from a task competition to supply linguist and translation services to the U.S. Africa Command.

The company has filed a pre-award protest over this task order being competed through the Defense Department's Language Interpretation and Translation Enterprises II contract also known as DLITE II.

Mission Essential has turned to the Government Accountability Office to argue it was eliminated because of a misunderstanding about its proposal.

DLITE II went to nine companies in 2017, who now compete for task orders under the $9 billion vehicle. It is managed by the Army Intelligence and Security Command.

A decision on Mission Essential’s protest is expected by Aug. 31. In the meantime, the government can continue to evaluate proposals for the task order but cannot make an award while the protest is pending.
