Accenture back in the running for HealthCare.gov recompete

The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services has decided to take a second look at its recompete of the Healthcare.gov portal support contract, which means Accenture has a second shot at keeping it.
Accenture isn’t quite out of the running to continue its work in supporting the Healthcare.gov portal.
The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services will apparently revise portions of its evaluation of bids for the recompete of the contract to support the health insurance exchange
CMS originally picked Deloitte Consulting as the winner of the nearly $400 million contract, then Accenture promptly filed a protest to the Government Accountability Office that challenged CMS’ best value conclusion.
No word on what CMS saw in Accenture’s protest that led the agency to take a second look at the procurement, but either way a new source selection will happen.
Of course, Accenture may still ultimately not win the recompete, but for now at least has a second chance to keep the contract.
Accenture first started supporting the Healthcare.gov portal in 2014, when the company stepped in to to get tha project back on track under a $45 million contract. In late 2014, Accenture won a $536 million award to continue work on the portal for another five years.
CMS made the newest award through the Strategic Partner Acquisition Readiness Contract vehicle, or SPARC.
