Unisys objects to CFPB cloud award

Unisys Corp. has filed a protest after it lost a competition for cloud hosting services to support the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The five-year, $15 million contract calls for FCN Inc. to bring Amazon Web Services' cloud to the agency.

Eight companies in total bid on the contract: FCN, Unisys and six others. CFPB awarded the order through the NASA SEWP V vehicle.

The task order apparently was competed as a lowest price, technically acceptable contract. Unisys is claiming that the pricing was not evaluated properly.

FCN is a woman-owned small business but the task order was competed as full-and-open. The company offers a variety of professional services around cloud computing including cloud design and deployment, managed services, application hosting, disaster recovery and hybrid cloud solutions.

Unisys is seen as a leader in the cloud space with solutions such as CloudForte, a managed service with enhanced security functions.

Unisys filed its protest on Dec. 16. A decision from GAO is expected March 25.
