MetTel picked for Marine Corps internet service

Find opportunities — and win them.

MetTel will provide the Marines Corps with high bandwidth internet services to support its Recruiting Command Centers around the globe.

MetTel, an upstart in the government market, has been tapped by the Marine Corps to provide internet connectivity to Recruiting Command centers around the globe.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but MetTel will be replacing T-1 lines with high bandwidth internet service.

The Recruiting Command centers seek to attract high-quality candidates to the Marine Corps. Download speeds at the some of the centers will increase from 1.5-to-25 megabits per second. Costs will go down by as much as 70 percent, the company said.

MetTel will also provide help desk services, invoicing and billing oversight to reduce network downtime and reduce costs.

Improving its connectivity and bandwidth is critical to the Marine Corps ability to recruit talent, Diana Gowen, general manager and senior vice president of federal programs for MetTel, said in a company release.

MetTel is relatively new to the federal market but has become more aggressive, including its pursuit and win of a spot on the $50 billion GSA Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract. It is still in the process of getting its Authority to Operate certification so it can bid on task orders.

The Marine Corps contract was competed through GSA Schedule 70.
