Top Leidos exec leads WT M&A event
Our May 31 Power Breakfast includes executives from leading government contractors like Randy Phillips, the senior vice president in charge of Leidos' M&A strategy.
We’ve tracked nearly 100 acquisitions over the last year as transactions continue to reshape the market.
As the pace of deals has picked up, the impact on the market is wide and deep. And we’ll look at what is driving consolidation in the market and what it really means for the competitive landscape.
Our May 31 WT Power Breakfast will feature speakers from some of the biggest names in government contracting such as Leidos, CACI International, and Science Applications International Corp. We’ll also have leading executives from emerging players as well such as Applied Insight and Trowbridge & Trowbridge.
We also are reaching out for other perspectives on mergers and acquisitions with a panel of former government officials who’ll provide their insights on how mergers and acquisitions impact the customer.
Companies spend precious and limited resources to make acquisitions but closing the deal is the start of the journey, not the end. So we’ll explore the issues around integration including challenges around people as well as how to combine operations, customers and business development.
The Power Breakfast will kick off with a one-on-one interview with Randy Phillips, senior vice president for corporate development at Leidos.
Leidos made one of the biggest deals in the market in 2016 when it acquired Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems and Global Services unit. Now that the IS&GS business is integrated, the company is looking to get back into the M&A game.
Phillips will discuss what M&A means to Leidos and how he sees the market in general. This will be a great opportunity to hear directly from an executive in charge of growth and development activities at one of the biggest contractors in the market.
As M&A activity has picked up over the past several years, middle market companies have been a frequent takeover target of larger buyers. The result has been a shortage of mid-tier companies. But nature abhors a vacuum and we’ve seen the emergence of several platforms bent on creating middle tier players.
We’ll hear from John Hynes, CEO of Applied Insight. We’ll also have Karen Trowbridge of Trowbridge & Trowbridge to talk about why she decided to sell her company to a private equity firm. Rounding out the panel will be Kevin DeSanto of the investment bank KippsDeSanto. He will share his perspective from working with multiple companies buying and selling in the market.
We’ll also have executives from CACI International and SAIC that describe how they integrated their acquisitions. They’ll be joined Liz Harr, a marketing and communications consultant who works with companies as they integrate acquisitions and evolve into a different entity from before.
Our Power Breakfast will be held May 31 at Valo Park in Tysons, Va. Click here for more information and to register.
