DISA seeks support for massive cloud efforts

The Defense Information Systems Agency has kicked off development of a contract to support its Enterprise Services Division, which will over see some of its biggest cloud computing efforts.

The Enterprise Services Division, which goes by the acronym "SD3," manages DISA's efforts around what it calls unified capabilities, which are collaboration tools including voice, video and messaging.

The work on the contract comes as DISA has released the final solicitation for its Defense Enterprise Office Solution, known as DEOS. That is an effort to move its email and collaboration tools to the cloud.

In addition to DEOS, the Enterprise Services Division also manages efforts such as global video services, defense collaboration services.

DISA’s new request for information seeks engineering services that would support these efforts. The current contract is held by Booz Allen Hamilton, but that is a one-year task order under the Alliant contract. It is worth about $8 million.

The new contract is expected to be for five years.

Services that DISA is looking for include expertise in traditional IT infrastructure and cloud computing. The agency also is looking for support to manage ongoing and future initiatives such as planning, designing and sustaining unified capabilities programs.

Task areas described in the solicitation documents include:

• Enterprise management controls
• Contract and task order management
• Technical support services
• Requirements development
• Technical writing and knowledge management
• Risk management
• Assessment and analysis

Comments on the RFI are due May 15.
