Army enterprise IT contract slated for industry day

The Army is planning an industry day for May 7 for its "Enterprise IT as a Service" contract, a new initiative to bring more commercial cloud services to bear on the Army's IT infrastructure.
The Army is planning an industry day for May 7 for its "Enterprise IT as a Service" contract, known as EITaaS.
The event will be held in Thurman Hall at Fort Belvoir in Virginia and starts at 10 a.m. Check in starts at 9 a.m.
EITaaS is an Army initiative to move more of its enterprise IT resources into the cloud. The program is going to start with at least one pilot to test whether commercial solutions for data transport, end-user device provisioning and cloud services will work for the Army.
As we wrote earlier this week, the Army's problem is that it can’t keep up with warfighter requirements. By 2028, the Army needs to be operating in multiple domains simultaneously and it can’t get there the way it is buying and managing IT currently.
The Army calls its network the “foundational weapons platform for the entire force.” No dollars have been attached to the contract yet, the stakes are high from the Army’s perspective.
Army Cyber Command and the Army Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems are the hosts of the event.
