Leidos to complete navigation work for unmanned aircraft

Under a $9.8 million contract, Leidos will complete the integration and testing of a positioning, navigation and timing system for the Shadow unmanned aerial system.

Under a $9.8 million Army contract, Leidos will complete integration and testing of a positioning, navigation and timing system for the Shadow unmanned aerial system.

Officially known as the RQ-7B, the Shadow is used for reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and battle damage assessment.

Leidos was one of two bidders to pursue the contract. Work will be performed at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. The contract runs through September 2020.

Positioning, navigation and timing -- also known as PNT -- is a set of technologies that are used to locate and navigate vehicles, sea vessels and aircraft. PNT's most common iteration is the Global Positioning System.
