Army readies RFP for $3.9B single-award contract
The Army has released a draft RFP for the next iteration of the $3.9 billion Common Hardware System contract that General Dynamics has held since 1995.
The Army has released the draft solicitation for a five-year, $3.9 billion contract known as the Common Hardware System – 5th Generation.
General Dynamics Mission Systems group is the incumbent on the single award vehicle. The Army uses the contract to purchase equipment such as routers, services, ruggedized platforms, hand-held devices and other products needed for battlefield interoperability and connectivity.
General Dynamics has owned this contract since 1995. The Army is planning a five-year task order contract that includes a three-year base and two one-year options. As with the earlier iterations of this contract, the Army is planning on a single award.
When it won the current contract in 2011, GD said it would be supplying commercial products such as radios, satellite communications and encryption equipment, computers and other products.
According to Deltek, GD took in $390.6 million in task orders under the contract in fiscal 2016. So far this fiscal year the total is $103.6 million.
Deltek is estimating that the final RFP will be released later this month with an award by August 2018.
