Washington Technology is excited to launch a new program to recognize the actions companies have been taking to become more innovative and to transform their businesses.

We are calling it the Washington Technology Industry Innovators awards program.

The market is going through a fundamental transformation and we’ve watched companies as they’ve changed and taken steps to be more innovative and bring new technologies and new solutions to their customers.

In our application process, we are looking for companies to tell their stories about what they have done to become Industry Innovators. The deadline for submitting your application is Aug. 18.

Companies are transforming themselves in multiple ways but the activity primarily fall into four categories:

• Acquisitions
• Restructuring
• Internal R&D investments and technology alliances
• Strategic hires

Many companies are using two or more of these methods to transform their companies and truly become innovators in the market.

These companies are changing not only their own businesses but the competitive landscape as well. As the leading business brand in the government contracting market, Washington Technology wants to recognize these Industry Innovators and share their stories and lessons learned.

This is an opportunity for you to tell us what your company has done and how you are separating yourself from your competitors and how your innovations are better serving your customers.

Companies that are picked as Industry Innovators will be featured in a special report on WashingtonTechnology.com and at the GCN dig IT Awards gala.

But in a nutshell, we want you to tell us how your company has changed in the past several years and how those actions have transformed the company and made it a true innovator.

For example, if you have closed acquisitions, how have they changed your company? Did you add new customers and capabilities? How are you better serving your customers?

We want you to think about all the actions you have taken and to describe how your company has become more innovative than it was a few years ago.

Remember as you describe these actions in your application please be as specific as possible. Details often help separate the great applications from the simply good ones.

We are looking forward to learning more about some of the best and most innovative companies in the market today and sharing those stories with the rest of the market.
