We invite you to explore some of the big changes in the 2017 edition of the Washington Technology Top 100.

For the 24th time, we've ranked the largest government contractors in the IT and systems integration space according to their prime contracting dollars, this time for fiscal year 2016.

The biggest change is the most obvious. After more than two decades as the No. 1 ranked company on the Top 100, Lockheed Martin has been supplanted. I’ll give you one guess who captured the number one spot.

But Lockheed hasn’t faded away. You’ll see they are a close No. 2 having retained a lot of platform-related IT and cybersecurity work when they shed their IS&GS business that then merged into Leidos.

And there I gave it away if you hadn’t guessed – Leidos is the new No. 1.

Over the coming days, we’ll publish stories analyzing the Top 100 and profiling companies on the list.

This year's rankings represent many examples of the transformation that is happening across the market and our stories will explore those trends.

We’ll also add more financial data to the Top 100 as our research continues.

So please explore the list and our slideshow that highlights many of the themes of transformation that we’ve observed in the market.
