VA plans 5-year contract for enterprise data management

The Veterans Affairs Department is prepping itself for changes in the IT world as it considers a five-year contract for enterprise data management support services.

VA’s Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) develops the department’s strategies, guidance, and governances for the “to be” technology world, while also implementing the new technology.

Based on a new request for information, the VA plans to use the contract to have access to expertise for instituting strategy and data architecture as well as development services for transactional and analytical data processing. To complete the work, VA will require an agile methodology to carry out the tasks.

• Specifically, task areas include:
• Project management
• Enterprise data management strategy and data architecture
• Data processing services
• Common Update Framework (CUF) operations and maintenance
• CUF solution development

CUF’s core concept is to standardize the sharing of data through business information objects.

VA officials intend to compete the work under the Transformation Twenty One Total Technology Next Generation multiple award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract.

The VA released its RFI May 11. Responses are due by May 22.
