DARPA taps BAE for power grid security program
BAE Systems and DARPA will collaborate to develop networks for use in case the U.S. electric grid suffers a cyber disruption.
BAE Systems will work with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to develop new communication networks for use in the event of cyber disruptions to the U.S. power grid, our sister publication Defense Systems reported.
DARPA’s Rapid Attack Detection, Isolation and Characterization Systems program seeks to secure defense networks and operational combat activities during such an attack.
The agency also wants the ability to recognize or get early warnings of impending attacks and map conventional and industrial control systems networks, among others.
BAE will focus its efforts on technology to create a secure network of data links protected by many layers of encryption and user authentication.
