Terms of the investment were not disclosed and it isn’t clear whether Enlightenment has taken ownership of the company or if it taken a minority stake in the Reston, Va., based firm. The company did not return a request for comment.

1901 Group is FedRAMP certified and has CMMI Level 3 and ISO 9001 certified. It also is a Gold Reseller for Equinix, the cloud infrastructure provider.

Part of the company’s delivery model includes what it calls “rural IT factories” in areas with talent and a good quality of life. The company also puts an emphasis on employee training and automation, according to its press release announcing the deal with Enlightenment. The company has a facility in Blacksburg, Va.

“The investment from and strategic support of Enlightenment Capital will allow us to continue to invest in our delivery model and grow our business, both organically and through acquisition,” said Sonu Singh, CEO of 1901 Group.

The investment is the second one in the federal space Enlightenment has made this year. In January, it invested in Telos. The amount of the investment was not disclosed.
