Pentagon leadership takes shape

The White House announced six appointees to top spots at the Defense Department:

Patrick Shanahan, deputy secretary of defense. He comes from Boeing where he is a senior vice president for supply chaine and operations. He also ran Boeing Missile Defense Systems. He will replace Robert Work.

David L. Norquist, undersecretary of defense, comptroller. He has nearly 30 years of government financial managmenet experience at the Army, as a staffer for the House Appropriations Committee, CFO at DHS and a previous stint in the DOD controller’s office.

Elaine McCusker, deputy to Norquist. She is currently director of resources and analysis at U.S. Central Command. She also was on the staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee and with the Navy.

Robert Daigle, director of cost assessment and program evaluation. Currently he is a staffer on the House Armed Services Committee.

Kenneth P. Rapuano, assistant secretary of defense for Homeland Defense and Global Security. He served in the George W. Bush administration and currently is a senior vice president and director of the studies and analysis group at ANSER Corp.

David Joel Trachtenberg, principal deputy undersecretary of defense for policy. Currently, he is president and CEO of Shortwaver Consulting.
