HPE, NTT Data tangle over CDC award

HP Enterprise Services and NTT Data trade bid protests in a battle over a CDC award for application and data center support worth $62 million.
First the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention award went to HP Enterprise Services and it was Dell (now NTT Data) that raised a ruckus with the Government Accountability Office.
CDC pulled the contract to take a corrective action. And when the agency awarded it a second time, it picked NTT Data for the $62 million award.
So it is HPE’s turn t protest.
For HPE, it is a big deal because this is a contract where they are the incumbent and they did win the first time after all.
The contract was awarded under CDC’s huge multiple award CDC Information Management Services, or CIMS, contract. This task order is known as the Applications Hosting and Enterprise File and Data Center Services contract.
Before HPE filed its protest, NTT Data put out a press release describing the work, which includes application hosting, file storage, operations monitoring, data center support and cloud management.
While HPE is the incumbent on this particular contract, NTT Data also has worked with CDC for more than a decade, according to the release.
In its protest, HPE is complaining about the evaluation process and that if it was done correctly they would have won the work again.
HPE filed is protest March 13 and a decision from GAO is expected June 21.
