EPA picks up support for Superfund sites

An upstate New York company has been tapped by the Environmental Protection Agency to help it assess human health risks under a $17.9 million contract.

SRC Inc. is a not-for-profit company based in Syracuse, N.Y., and is a service provider to EPA along with several other government agencies.

Under this contract, SRC will be supporting the Superfund program with both scientific support as well as project management, depending on the need, according to solicitation documents.

The company will support development of what are known as Provisional Peer-Reviewed Value assessments, which look at the chemicals present at sites and help establish priorities for mitigation.

The work will support the National Center for Environmental Assessment and the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response.

According to Deltek, the contract is a new one so there is no incumbent. But SRC and ICF International have performed similar work on existing contracts.

In addition to EPA, SRC also does work with the Defense Department, Army, Air Force, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, DARPA, NSA, and the Special Operations Command.

It offers services around communications systems, cybersecurity, electronic warfare and intelligence in addition to its environmental work.
