JIDO continues streak with another big contract award

Three months and three big awards by the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization brings recent JIDO contracts well past the $2 billion mark. And all are Alliant task orders.
There’s a whole lot spending going on over at the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization. Since November the agency charged with combating roadside bombs and other improvised explosive devices has awarded three task orders topping a total of $2.3 billion.
The latest win goes to Booz Allen Hamilton, which received a $325.9 million task order to support JIDO’s enterprise IT operation anywhere in the world.
Last month, Amyx Inc. won a $189.3 million task order for mission support services.
But the whopper was in November, when CACI International won a $1.8 billion task order for training and analytics.
All of the task orders have been awarded under GSA’s Alliant vehicle and are part of JIDO’s Enterprise Acquisition Strategy Initiative. The agency wants to adapt more quickly to evolving threats while also improving compliance with acquisition rules and improving mission effectiveness, the Defense Department said.
Among the goals for the Booz Allen award are the ability to rapidly aggregate, fuse and share operational information, intelligence and technology to respond to threats.
The work will be heavy on DevOps to produce new mission IT capabilities as well as use DOD and intelligence community IT capabilities. The company also will deliver capabilities to combatant commands, the intelligence community, the military services and other defense and federal agencies.
Booz faced only one competitor for the award. The company wasn’t able to comment on the win.
The win appears to fit well with the company’s Vision 2020 strategy to meld technology and consulting capabilities to more quickly respond to customer needs. The company has put a lot of emphasis on Agile methodologies and DevOps capabilities.
