Treasury extends deadline for desktop initiative
The Treasury Department has extended the deadline on a sources sought notice as it explores how to lower the cost of the desktop environment for the Comptroller of the Currency.
Contractors interested in providing a new desktop infrastructure to the Comptroller of the Currency still have a chance to shape the opportunity, but not much time.
The Treasury Department has extended the deadline by two days for responses to its sources sought notice. The deadline is now Dec. 14.
Right now, the agency is considering at a phased approach with a proof of concept serving 25 desktops. The proof of concept should lead into a pilot for 50 desktops and laptops before a full rollout to 200 users.
They are looking for information on whether they should move to a cloud desktop as a service or a virtual desktop infrastructure. They described the users of the infrastructure as power users.
While the solicitation strategy is still to be determined, Deltek is estimating a March release of the solicitation.
One of the main goals is lowering the total cost of ownership for their desktop environment.
