HPE keeps its biggest Army contract

HPE has won a $73 million Army IT infrastructure contract to support the Human Resources Command, the biggest Army contract in its portfolio.

The company has held the work for several years and competed against Booz Allen Hamilton to keep the work, according to a company source.

The contract, known as IT Infrastructure Support, was competed under the Army’s ITES-2S vehicle. It is worth $73 million over three years.

The Human Resources Command is a field operating command that does strategic talent management and personnel programs and services that support the Army’s Total Force readiness program.

Under the contract, HPE will maintain the command’s data center at Fort Knox, Ky., and manage personnel functions such as recruitment, training, separation, mobilization, deployment and retirement.

This is an important win for HPE because the contract is the largest Army program in the company’s portfolio, a company source said. Deltek said the company has taken in $112 million in task orders since winning the contract in 2012.

When the Army held an industry day in January, it said that the contract would have four main task areas: data center management, IT service desk/mission support, network management and systems management. There also is a need for program management.
