Lockheed to sustain space-based infrared system under $45M contract
Lockheed Martin Space Systems has won a $45 million contract to provide the Air Force with logistics support and legacy sustainment for the Space-Based Infrared System.
Lockheed Martin Space Systems has won a $45 million contract to provide the Air Force with logistics support and legacy sustainment for the Space-Based Infrared System.
The Space-Based Infrared System is designed to provide global, persistent, infrared surveillance capabilities to meet demands in the mission areas of missile warning, missile defense, technical intelligence and battlespace awareness, Lockheed said on its website.
Under the contract, the company will conduct studies in response to deficiencies, failures or evolving requirements, changes in external user data needs or changes in technology, the Defense Department said in a release.
Work will be performed in Sunnyvale, Calif., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Boulder, Colo., and is expected to be completed in June 2019.
