Lockheed Martin has won an $8.5 million contract to upgrade the Air Force’s Global Positioning System.

Lockheed Martin has won an $8.5 million contract to upgrade the Air Force’s Global Positioning System.

Under the contract, Lockheed will provide sustainment services including modernized-monitor station technology improvement as well as deploy upgrades to the GPS monitor station receiver elements, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed in Colorado Springs, Colo., and is expected to be completed in October 2018.
