Northrop Grumman wins $103.4M counter-IED contract

Northrop Grumman has won a $103.4 million contract to continue its counter improvised explosive device support for the Navy.

Under the contract, the company will provide counter radio-controlled-IED systems, which provide combat troops protection against IEDs.

The Joint Crew systems are designed to provide protection for foot soldiers, vehicles, and permanent structures, and this particular version develops a common open architecture across all three capabilities, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., Beaverton, Ore., Rochester, Minn., Santa Ana, Calif., and Sierra Vista, Ariz., and is expected to be completed in September 2018.
