NASA sets schedule for HITSS competition

NASA has released the procurement schedule for its $150 million IT support contract that will be competed as an 8(a) set aside contract.

The draft request for proposals is expected on Aug. 15 for the Headquarter Information Technology Support Services III contract, known as HITSS.

A final RFP will be released on Oct. 10 and proposals will be due Nov. 9, according to an FBO.gov posting. 

The current contract is held by Digital Management Inc. and they’ve done about $118.8 million in task orders and Deltek estimates that DMI will do about $145.8 million in business by the time the contract expires in 2017.

NASA uses the contract for IT support at is Washington D.C. headquarters where it has 3,200 employees. Some of the work includes planning and management of information systems, technical solutions and capabilities management, cloud services, networks and telecom, application, web and other services, and systems engineering and integration services.

NASA also wants support for a variety of metrics management needs such as earned value management, knowledge management, software and web development, and information security. There also are needs around data center operations.
