Too soon for Internet of Things laws, FTC says

The Federal Trade Commission believes it is too early to create laws around the Internet of Things, according to FCW.

Instead, the FTC believes that Internet of Things can be legally covered by the same authorities that deal with data privacy.

The main gripe the FTC has with the Internet of Things is that its chips are becoming more inexpensive and disposable, making devices quickly replaceable with newer versions, FCW reported.

This would mean that businesses have less of an incentive to upgrade their software, leading to potential security risks.
