CACI gets big win from L-3 NSS acquisition

CACI International gets a big win with a $445.9 million Air Force contract thanks to its February acquisition of L-3 National Security Solutions.
CACI International Inc., through its acquisition of L-3 National Security Solutions, has won a $445.9 million contract to support the Air Force Satellite Control Network.
The contract consolidates three existing contracts – the Satellite Control Network contract, the Network and Space Operations Maintenance contract and the Engineering, Development and Sustainment contract.
The Air Force consolidated the contracts to bring together operations, site support, organizational and depot maintenance, sustainment, factory compatibility testing and other services. The service wants to reduce operations and maintenance costs, according to the posting on FBO.gov.
The award was announced Monday on the DefenseLink contracts page and through FBO.gov.
Deltek lists Harris Corp., Lockheed Martin and Honeywell International as incumbents on the exiting three contracts.
We’ll keep an eye out over the next couple weeks to see if any bid protests are filed. It should be expected with a contract this large.
For CACI, the win is new work and represents some early pay off of its $550 million acquisition of the National Security Solutions business from L-3. The acquisition closed in February. It bolstered intelligence, cyber and C4 capabilities at CACI.
Under the Air Force contract, known as the Consolidated Air Force Satellite Control Network Modifications Maintenance Operations Contract or AFSCN CAMMO, CACI will provide a variety of services. These include factory capability testing, operations support, remote site support, sustainment and modifications.
Much of the specifics of the work is classified, which also fits with CACI’s acquisition of L-3 NSS – 90 percent of the employees brought security clearances with them.
