Lockheed Martin has signed an agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to collaborate on what they are calling “generation-after-next” autonomous systems.
Lockheed Martin has signed an agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to collaborate on what they are calling “generation-after-next” autonomous systems.
They will collaborate on autonomy and robotics, working on things such as improving human-machine teaming and navigation in complex environments.
Lockheed will work with MIT’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the university's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab.
The collaboration will include joint research projects, exchanges of visiting scientists, support of undergraduate research, fellowships and internships at Lockheed Martin.
The effort is being led by Lockheed’s chief technology officer Keoki Jackson, an MIT grad.
“We are focused on advancing technology and recruiting top talent, both of which are crucial for creating the next generation of aerospace systems,” he said in a Lockheed release.
