Lockheed Martin wins $40.8M contract to support undersea warfare system

Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training has won a $40.8 million contract modification to support one of the Navy’s surface ship undersea warfare systems.

Under the one-year modification, the company will provide engineering services in support the AN/SQQ-89A, which can search, detect, classify, localize and track undersea contacts, in order to engage and evade submarines, mine-like small objects and torpedo threats, the Defense Department said in a release.

The contract includes foreign military sales to Japan.

Work will be performed in Manassas, Va., and is expected to be completed in May 2017.

The contract was awarded by the Naval Sea Systems Command, the Defense Department said.
