Industry cautious toward DHS cyber threat-sharing system

Despite facilitating machine-to-machine sharing of cyber threat indicators between the federal government and the private sector, the Homeland Security Department's Automated Indicator Sharing system has not been a big hit with the private sector, according to FCW.

John Felker, National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center director, said AIS has been pushing out between 100 and 150 cybersecurity threat indicators to the private sector per day since it went live in March.

Industry’s hesitation is not surprising given the nature of private firms and their efforts to be cautious. The key to getting these companies to participate is to insure the threat information being sent out is high quality, FCW reported.
