DOD CIO catches flak for Windows comments
A group of software vendors are complaining that DOD CIO Terry Halvorsen improperly recommended that defense personnel use Windows 10 for personal use.
An association of software vendors is up in arms about comments by Defense Department CIO Terry Halvorsen in which he essentially endorses Windows 10 for personal use.
“If you are using a computer at home and you’re not on Windows 10, you’re doing yourself an injustice. You ought to be moving to Windows 10,” Halverson said in a call with reporters, according to FCW.com.
The Software and Information Industry Association cited that comment in a letter it has sent to Defense Secretary Ash Carter. The group wants Halvorsen to publicly correct his comments. SIIA claims the comments have already created competitive harm.
A Pentagon spokesperson told FCW that Halvorsen was only making the recommendation for current Windows users to upgrade their home computers.
