Lockheed to continue support of GPS under $96M contract mod

Lockheed Martin has won a $96 million contract modification to support the Global Positioning System.

Under the contract, the company will provide GPS III contingency operations services and supplies to modify the current GPS control segment to operate all GPS III satellites that are launched prior to the transition to the Next Generation Operational Control System, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed at Littleton, Colo., and Gaithersburg, Md., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2019.
