DCMA seeks analytics tool for reviewing earned value management systems

The Defense Contract Management Agency thinks it needs some analytical tools to help review earned value management systems that contractors use to manage suppliers.

DCMA has issued a request for information to see if there are any analytic programs out there than can help them determine if EVMS systems comply with certain ANSI and EIA standards.

The agencies want to make sure the systems contractors are using collect the necessary data so DCMA can conduct their reviews of defense acquisitions.

Among the things DCMA is looking for is the effective use of internal cost and schedule management control systems. The government wants to make sure that the data being collected is auditable.

The information from these systems helps create the Defense Acquisition Executive Summary that the Defense Department uses to manage major defense acquisition programs, major automated information systems and special interest programs, according to the RFI.

DCMA could use the RFI to launch some demonstration projects as well as testing and validation.

Some of the information they are looking to gather includes how DCMA algorithms would be incorporated, how data would be collected and compiled, hardware and software requirements and a list of other agencies using the product.

Responses to the RFI are due Feb. 18.
