Army tabs SRC for $49.2M counter-IED research effort

The Army has picked SRC Inc. for a $49.2 million contract to research new capabilities for a system that jams the radio signals used to trigger improvised explosive devices.

SRC is an independent, not-for-profit research and development corporation in New York, and it helped develop the Counter Remote Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare Duke system, known as CREW Duke.

According to the company’s website, the system uses an advanced software-defined architecture that supports rapid reconfiguration.

The company claims it is the most widely deployed counter-IED system used to mitigate the risk of roadside bombs.

SRC was the only bidder for the contract.
