A new rule is in the works at the Pentagon that will increase the amount of training needed before a defense official can hire a contractor.

Bloomberg is reporting that the Pentagon wants to professionalize the process of hiring contractors and negotiating deals.

The new approach will be detailed in a DoD Instruction 5000.ac, a directive that has been under review for more than a year. The gist of it is that DOD wants any official who hires a contractor to undergo training on writing requirements and negotiating terms.
