WT Industry Day puts focus on cybersecurity

We're putting together a strong lineup of government speakers for our Dec. 15 Cybersecurity Day, including representatives from the Army, HHS, DHS and Commerce as well as an immixGroup market intelligence expert.
The lineup for our Cybersecurity Industry Day includes speakers from the Army, the Homeland Security Department, Health and Human Services and Commerce.
At the Dec. 15 event, we’ll be diving into policy and programs, the pipeline for procurements as well as exploring how different parts of the government are approaching cybersecurity.
For example, Rob Turk, the chief information security officer at Commerce, will be discussing his agency’s top cybersecurity priorities and how they fit into broader initiatives. A goal at Commerce is to create a cybersecurity culture that stretches across the organization and encompasses policies, technologies and processes.
From DHS, Bill Weinburg will present how procurement at his part of the department – Immigration and Customs Enforcement – is trying to become more adaptive to make it easier to bring new technologies. Weinberg is the head of the contracting activity at ICE.
We’ll also be getting a deep dive into contracting data from Lloyd McCoy Jr., a consultant in the market intelligence unit at ImmixGroup. McCoy will be tracking the dollars that are going to cybersecurity initiatives across the government as well as leading vendors and upcoming opportunities.
Other speakers include Matthew Shallbetter, the security architect at HHS. When you consider the value of health care information and other sensitive information under HHS’ purview, you can rest assured he’ll bring some valuable cybersecurity insights.
Darryl Peek, from DHS’ Office of Cybersecurity and Communications, also will be speaking. He’s a cyber strategist in the Federal Network Resilience Division.
And from the Army, we have Lt. Col. Ossie Peacock, who is a product manager in the Army Contract Writing System.
I should be able to share more details next week on what the speakers will be talking about, but given the diversity of agencies represented, we think we have a strong program.
