Report: Plenty of awareness of cyber attacks but little done to prevent them

A recent report took a close look at nation-state attacks against corporations and government agencies and found that almost half of respondents are not doing anything about increasing cybersecurity to thwart future attacks.

The report, commissioned by CounterTack|MCSI and conducted by the Ponemon Institute, showed that 49 percent of respondents are taking a “wait and see approach” to security instead of trying to up their security to prevent cyber attacks.

This is with 35 percent of respondents confirming that their organization, be it a corporation or an agency, has experienced some type of nation-state cyber attack.

But this is not to say that executive level personnel are not concerned: 74 percent of c-level respondents said that they were in fact concerned with cyber attacks affecting their organization.

However, concern does not prevent attacks from happening, and 75 percent of respondents said that their organizations are not equipped to detect or prevent stacks. Only 12 percent of respondents said their organizations were prepared.
