Social Security Administration needs IT support for baby boomers

The Social Security Administration wants advice on how best to prepare its management and program information systems for the influx of more than 70 million baby boomers who soon will become beneficiaries.

In a request for information, SSA said it wants support in addressing its overall strategic plan and information resources management strategic plan and objectives for the next decade.

SSA plans to acquire support services to aid its CIO in performing work to ensure it’s prepared for the Baby Boomers’ arrivals. In the RFI, SSA wants companies to share what suitable services they can offer.

SSA needs IT services related to:

• Lifecycle activities for improving software and web interfaces
• Data and database administration
• Software engineering and management support
• Systems administration and systems security

SSA released the RFI Aug. 1. Responses are due by Aug. 28.
