Lockheed wins $21.7M to upgrade Apache targeting system

Lockheed Martin has won a potentially $50.9 million contract to upgrade the targeting and pilotage system on board the Army’s Apache helicopter.

Lockheed was initially awarded $21.7 million, the company said in a release.

The first phase of upgrades includes producing Modernized Laser Rangefinder Designator kits, which are the principal targeting aids for the Apache, the company said.

The company is on contract to produce and deliver 786 M-LRFD kits for the Army and international customers.
