DISA plans for five-year IDIQ to develop virtualization platform

The Defense Information System Agency extended the response date for feedback on developing and planning the Defense Department’s virtualization platform.

DISA release its initial request for information in July, but will continue to receive responses through Sept. 2.

DISA wants information from industry to aid with setting potential new requirements for the capabilities and sources to support the virtualization platform. Officials have asked for strategies to optimize the acquisition, deployment, and sustainment, commercial capabilities to provide software licenses and maintenance, and the ability to purchase, install, and provide on-site support for the software. They also want to know about the benefits and risks of shifting from VMWare products to the equivalent product.

Because DISA is collaborating with Army, Air Force and other DOD agencies, it needs to think about various techniques, methods or approaches to create a virtual hardware platform, operating system, storage device, or network resources.

DISA is considering a five-year, single-award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract.
