Air Force plans for voice/transport system small biz contract

The Air Force wants input on its draft request for proposals to provide voice/transport and unified capabilities services for its Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey.

In the draft, the Air Force needs operation and maintenance and other services to ensure the voice and converged Internet Protocol architecture is available at all times. Among other services, the Air Force wants voicemail and unified messaging O&M, and diagnostic, maintenance, and minor programming changes on current software applications.

The base’s voice/transport infrastructure includes legacy telephone systems, Voice over Internet Protocol, systems inside and outside of the base, transmission systems and related equipment.

In feedback, the Air Force is asking where the draft RFP differs from typical commercial requirements or if any requirements conflict with similar work in the commercial sector. They also want to know of any areas or requirements that will drive up costs and risks.

Currently, the draft RFP is a small-business set-aside contract.

The Air Force released the draft Aug. 24. Responses are due by Aug. 31.
