Accenture has identified five emerging trends that reflect the impact that technologies such as social, mobile, analytics and cloud are having on digital businesses and governments.

In its latest report called Accenture Technology Vision 2015, Accenture illustrates how the economy has switched from being a “me” economy to a “we” economy and how that has implications for federal IT.

The five trends are:

Internet of Me, which places citizens at the center of every digital experience.

The Outcome Economy, which is the ability of organizations to create value by delivering solutions that lead to quantifiable results through the use of technologies like hardware sensors, cloud-based software analytics and virtualization. This shifts the focus form selling things to selling results.

The Platform (R)evolution, which takes traditional platforms and combines them with public sector expertise, allowing federal agencies an opportunity to increase the value of the services they offer. This reflects how digital platforms are becoming the tools of choice for building next-generation products and services.

Intelligent Enterprise, with spurs discovery and innovation since applications are becoming more intelligent.

Workforce Reimagined, which recognizes how people are working together with machines more than ever before through the use of natural interfaces and wearable devices.

The report also polled respondents about how their agencies and organizations are navigating this new technological landscape. Sixty-two percent reported that their organizations are investing in digital technologies, and 35 percent are actively investing in digital as part of their overall business strategy.

Respondents also largely agreed (81 percent) said that they believed industry boundaries will blur as things like Internet of Things reshapes industries into interconnected ecosystems, the report said.
