GSA plans industry day for Connect.gov

GSA is moving forward with its plans for a federated credential known as Connect.gov and wants to tell industry all about it at a June 2 webinar.
An industry day is in the works as the General Services Administration moves forward on a new contract for the Federal Cloud Credential Exchange, also known as Connect.gov.
GSA is planning an industry day for June 2, and it will be held online as a webinar from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The webinar’s agenda will cover topics:
- Provide background on the initiative
- Clarify what Connect.gov wants to accomplish in its next phase
- Discuss operational models proposed in the request for information
- Provide an opportunity for a Q&A period
The webinar is described in an amendment to the RFI that was released May 8.
The original RFI was released in April. GSA wants Connect.gov to provide federal agencies with the ability to accept a full range of accredited third-party credentials for access to agency online services. They want greater security, privacy and efficiency.

Work on Connect.gov kicked off in 2012 when the White House released the National Strategies for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace report.
Agencies have been investigating a common solution for a federated identity and credential exchange across agencies. This will allow people to use the same credential at multiple agencies.
Comments on the RFI are due June 19.
