Contractors concerned about recent GSA proposed rule

Contractors are concerned that a recent rule proposed by the General Services Administration—requiring vendors to report prices paid by federal agencies for an item or service—could be costly and compromise their pricing information, FCW reports.

At a public meeting on April 17, GSA said that the proposed change would help address several challenges that the agency faces with multiplying contracts, price differences among contract vehicles, transparency and antiquated rules.

At the meeting, contractors asked many questions about how pricing information would be shared and accessed. GSA’s Jeff Koses answered that this information would be protected and would be reached only through the Acquisition.gov gateway. Contractors were also concerned with the costs of building an information collection system and raised the possibility that the rule would push them to GWACs run by agencies other than the GSA, FCW reported.
